Simple in explaining the "why"
Rated out of 5 stars, November 12th, 2008
This book is excellent.
It explains the fundamentals of HSPA and LTE in a simple and straight forward way, without getting into complicated mathematical details. An easy read. What is really "unique selling point" is that the book does not stop in describing the technology. It goes on step further, by explaining the reasoning behind the 3GPP decisions. Why not OFDM in the UL? Why the PHICH is located in the first symbol? Why so many DCI formats? Why DVRB? All the answers are there. Ideal for a 3GPP technology briefing.
The writers are active contributors in 3GPP and they drive the technology.
The five stars are not given only because occasionally the book repeats itself but some times this is necessary.
