Cheap & flimsy
Rated out of 5 stars, February 12th, 2006
I never write reviews, but after receiving this book I just felt compelled to do so.First of all, when it arrives you think its so thin that it cannot be a book, it must be a check book or something. Then you open it and realise its a cheap, flimsy, badly laid out book.
As far as the tutorials go, they are ok, but it seems like they have printed an electronic document out, as code is split across pages, causing me great difficulty in following it.
I don't think this is a great book, you would be better off just using an online tutorial, such as.

I was astonished at the attention to detail
Rated out of 5 stars, January 12th, 2002
This book is obviously the result of a lot of hard work. Every little detail, every problem and bit of troubleshooting is noted, explained and corrected. You don't need any knowledge in advance, but you simply cannot go wrong. This book is ideal for vocational and/or college courses, as well as for the web-master who needs quickly to find out what ASP is. I'm really looking forwards to reading any further books Dr Mellor may write. -
excellent

This is not a book for nerds, but if, like me, you are new to ASP, then I can really recommend the easy learning style. I was astonished how fast I picked it up, the principles are illustrated in simple examples. Now I can say that I have learnt the basics and can continue on to read the big expensive manuals. -
Pleasantly surprized
Rated out of 5 stars, January 12st, 2002
Prof Mellor is not only a master programmer, but also really knows how to make readable books. As a non-english speaker (or at least not native) I had no difficulty with understanding the material. But the material is structured so well that (perhaps to my surprize), I ended up learning ASP. Well done Dr Mellor, and I'm also proud of me :o) -
Excellent Textbook
Rated out of 5 stars, December 12th, 2001
This book starts by putting ASP in perspective followed by easy coding examples (each followed by an excellent detailed explanation) working gradually up to quite complicated techniques. Mini-projects are included, and the book has a high pedagogical and academic standard. I now use the book as standard recommended text for beginners on our courses. The book is very popular as the students find it really easy to read, to learn and understand. Well done !
