The Book You Need if You're Not Yet Doing Agile
Rated out of 5 stars, January 12th, 2010
When I came across this book, I was frustrated with much of the literature on Agile, as most books cover either the principles or an idealised process in a department with no constraints. This is the first book I've read that genuinely covers the real world transition from a distinctly non-Agile operation to an Agile operation.
The message is clear: make sure you're ready then go about carefully easing yourselves in, all the while making sure that your spinning your own version of Agile to exactly fit your circumstances.
As soon as I'd finished this book, I put it on my boss's desk. When he's finished, it's going on his boss's desk. Hopefully they'll get the same message as I did and see a clear route forward without fear and uncertainty. -
Worth having a copy

Worth having a copy. Not only explains how to bring AGILE into an organisation but also how each company needs to approach the migration uniquely attempting to fulfil as many organisational dependencies as possible. ThumbsUp -
Great Book, But Wordy
Rated out of 5 stars, August 12rd, 2009
I started reading this but found it a real slog at times. The authors do a GREAT job at covering all the concerns (or at least the concerns I had) with moving to agile in a non-agile environment but they tend to keep rehashing some (what I thought) were simple concepts over and over and over. This made for a hell of a lot more reading.
After about chapter 7 I switched to "skim read" mode. I then started plowing through the book a lot quicker and picking out the useful bits (and there are a lot).
All that said, this is a must-have for anyone moving (or thinking of moving) to agile. Lots of tools, tips and answers to tough questions in these pages. I will be referring to this a lot as I transition to a more agile system.
