Amazon's description of the book is highly misleading. The first paragraph of the book's Introduction immediately contradicts the 'blurb' shown by Amazon. Verbatim, here is what the Introduction says:
"Welcome to Beginning Java SE 6 Platform. Contrary to its title, this is not another beginner-orientated book on Java. You will not learn about classes, threads, file I/O, and other fundamental topics."
So, even the author readily admits that the title is misleading. If what I have shown so far is not enough to convince you then please note the following which indicates, that one will learn about I/O and threads, for example.
Amazon's Product description, extract:
"This book guides you from beginning to advanced techniques by starting off with a very simple Java SE 6 application, and then covering the fundamentals of generics, collections, annotations, reflections, IO, threads, and networking in Java SE 6.
The first paragraph of the page after the Introduction informs us "This book assumes that you are a professional Java developer with a solid understanding of Java 2 Platform...."
