Reviews for Beginning Ruby on Rails (Wrox Beginning Guides)

  1. Could have been a lot better. Here's why.

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, April 12th, 2008

There are several places in this book where you'll just be left scratching your head. It's good in other parts, but there are even flat-out errors in it. It took me three hours of roaming around on the internet to discover the author's error on telling you how to set up your computer to run Ruby in the first place.

Am about half way through the book now, so hopefully the rest of the book is better.

Overall, it's fine. I needed a total beginner's guide, and this is nearly the ideal book, but the errors are hard to fix and that's very frustrating. This book will definitely test your patience. But please note, I'm not saying "don't buy it". I'm saying, it could definitely be better.
