   This is a classic - definitely a keeper. This book is an excellent introduction to C programming - great sample exercises also

2. Modern C programming

   Readable and well-explained in a straightforward order. Each chapter has useful review questions, with answers. Plenty of exercises give opportunities to try out and to learn what's been presented (and model solutions to some of the problems are available on the publisher's web site). Coverage of the C99 changes and extensions is embedded wherever it's relevant.

   I have bought this book after reading a few chapters at the University Library.
   I am really amazed on how good this book explains the C programming Language on every little detail.
   It's a huge book, plenty of content which I have not reached the half of it yet. But thanks to the wonderful approach it takes, I have been able to "assimilate" much quicker other C based languages such as PHP, Java and so on.

   Really a GREAT book.
   I would really consider to buy this book first and then pass to other languages or even K&R if I'd be you.
   Five stars is not enough!
