Reviews for Computer Systems Architecture

  1. Computer Systems Architecture

    Rated 1 out of 5 stars, February 12st, 2006

This is a very slim volume, and as such can only provide a very shallow overview of the subject. Do NOT rely on this book to get you through your Computer Systems Architecture module(Use it as a primer if you really have no clue about the subject).

The diagrams are pixellated and amateur, and the notation used for boolean algebra changes from page to page as each author pens their pages.

It's slim and does not appear to have been professionally typeset or proofread.

However, I have had the pleasure of being lectured to by two of the authors, and they are extremely knowledgeable and capable. The small amount of information you can glean from this book is correct and insightful.

There are better books on this subject out there.

  2. A great introduction

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, July 12th, 2004

This was one of the books on my uni list and I bought it partly because it was cheaper than some of the others. It was really easy to read and has good questions and answers at the end of chapters. If you want to go into any of the topics in depth then you will have to get a bigger book, but I would recommend this book to anyone as a good starting point and a clear intro to the subject.
