Reviews for Database Systems: Design, Implementation & Management - International Edition

  1. Databases Systems explained in plain english

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, October 12th, 2008

I bought this book as it was recommended for my second year Computing course on Databases. It is very easy to read and explains the topics easily especially relational algebra. There are also lots of examples and exercises at the end. A nice addition is the CD included which contains some of the answers. The book also has a chapter on SQL where the examples are in ORACLE 10g - this has been useful extra to the labs that we do at University. The book uses newer UML class diagrams to design relational databases rather than crows foot ERD's which we were taught briefly in the first year. This is making it easier to see how database design can fit into the whole system design. Overall I am very happy with this purchase.
