Reviews for Easy Oracle HTML-DB: Easy Dynamic HTML with Oracle: Create Dynamic Web Pages with OAE

  1. yet another review

    Rated 1 out of 5 stars, December 12th, 2008

well, what to say. i do not recommend this book to anybody who has any kind of experience with oracle application express (oracle htmldb).

this is the book that is written in the manner "what i see i shortly describe", without any thinking and analyzing.

i bought this book only because there were no others available at the moment and oracle itself did not make any effort to create good documentation on their product called application express.

actually the same is valid at the time i am writing this. no good documentation and no good books that rigorously describe what happens inside apex.

one book i can mention is "Pro Oracle Application Express", it is definitely better but still it lucks precise definitions and concentrates on the authors personal experience that is really not always what is needed. but it is a great success.

  2. Useful for reference

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, January 12th, 2008

APEX books & reference are in short supply. Whilst I never read this book cover to cover I have found sections useful as any for reference and certainly easier to quickly get an answer than the online help.
  3. Worst Oracle book I have ever bought

    Rated 1 out of 5 stars, September 12th, 2007

Over 20 years of working with Oracle and I have bought many books on the subject - this is the only book ever I have felt let down and ripped off by. Badly written and edited, either waffling and patronising at times, or when details are required it just glances over the subject matter.

If you want to learn AE, don't bother with this book, even the standard Oracle documentation and help screens is better than this.

Will stick with Apress in the future and avoid the "Easy Oracle" series written by this lot. Anybody want to buy a door wedge?
