Reviews for ECDL Advanced Syllabus 2.0 Module AM5 Database Using Access 2007 (Ecdl Advanced 20)

  1. A Neat Book

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, April 12th, 2010

This book does exactly what it says, It gives you the information to pass the ECDL advanced exam No less - No more. The jurys out on the driving lessons format which is pretty pointless but doesn't exactly do any harm either. All in all the book is worth the money if you want to improve your knowledge of Access or wish to pass the exam.
  2. CIA ECDL

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, April 12th, 2010

Good material as expected from CIA. Disappointed that they have dropped the spiral bound format that made the earlier books so easy to use.
  3. ECDL Advanced AM5 Database

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, March 12th, 2010

Well, I bought 3 books from Amazon, however I only need to complete 2 from those three to gain the qualification! Oops! First mistake.

Using one of the other books; I'm currently on Section 17 of 19 of AM4 Spreadsheets. Just 2 more sections until I've been through once. That's after 5 weeks of a 30 week course - I think I will manage all 3 books by the end of the course. About 10 weeks each?

I have found the book to be straight-forward, light-weight, easy to carry to college or use at home, black and white - no colour illustrations or screen-shots at all (which there were in the Extra textbook by a different publisher!)

This is the database book so I'll be heading here in about 5 more weeks, having got used to the format of the "lessons" - a bit tooooo much like learning to drive a car for me - with a (CAR!) Driving Licence for 20 years! My (Computer) ECDL is about 8 years old - the 5 Advanced Modules are my attepmt to update it within 10 years.

The Grey BCS Productivity book was probably the book I didn't need to purchase this time. I'm aiming for Spreadsheets and Databases this year and Wordporcessing and Presentation next year. I think that this book is actually for AM6 Presentation. Hopefully they (cia training) won't publish an update before then! I'll buy the Wordprocessing book next Jan/Feb (2011)
  4. ECDL Advanced databases

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, March 12th, 2010

Should have bought the A4 spiral bound version, the A5 books are very difficult to keep open without breaking the spine, seriously considering pulling apart and hole punching. Have used the CIA manuals extensively at work so knew it would be a useful purchase and they are pretty good although a novice still needs support. Not started this one yet.
