Reviews for Embedded Linux Primer

  1. Excellent (First Edition) - wide and detailed coverage in one book

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, April 12th, 2009

This book (First Edition) really does serve as an excellent primer---it should be the first book every embedded Linux developer reads. It should probably be compulsory reading to avoid weeks or months of stumbling about.

Its well worth reading from cover to cover, is very readable and will continue to serve as a useful quick reference because of its excellent contents pages.

The breadth and depth of topics covered is excellent and the contents pages alone are an asset. A quick glance at the contents pages tell you what tools are available for various tasks and on which page they are covered. In contrast, Building Embedded Linux Systems (although an excellent book) is useless as a quick reference because of its poor contents and index pages.

This and The Linux Programmer's Toolbox (Prentice Hall Open Source Software Development)are essential reading for embedded Linux development.
