Reviews for FileMaker Pro 4 for Windows and Macintosh (Visual QuickStart Guides)

  1. The best guide a new FMPro 4 users can expect to find.

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, August 12th, 1999

Like every Visual Quick Start Guide I have bought in the past, this one is clear and it contains numerous screen shots which help understand the basics and more advanced functions of FMPro 4. It's covering of CDML and scripting is obviously better and clearer than that found in the FMPro official tutorial, however I wish there were a Visual Quick Guide entirely targeted to more advanced users who currently are craving for similarly clear explanation on these two subjects. Still, this guide will get you started in no time. I give it 5 crowns because it did very well what I expected it to do. Very highly recommended if like myself, you are a new user of this cool database. And it's cheap too!...
  2. A basic introduction to Filemaker, not for theintermediate t

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, June 12th, 1999

I bought this book hoping to get a good tutorial on scripting and portals. However it is mostly made up of screen shots of the most obvious Filemaker operations. You will save your self money if you simply browse through Filemaker's on line help. This book is really for a person coming new to databases. If you are familiar with constructing a database and want to go on to build more complex databases then this book is not for you
