Confused and unclear
Rated out of 5 stars, February 12th, 2009
I am really disappointed with this book. Different aspects of HTML are broken down into modules which is good, but the content is contradictory and confusing.
There are entire sections devoted to Tables and Frames which the author then seems to dimiss as obselete, steering the reader to CSS (style sheets). Why have those topics in the book? The CSS are not adequately explained and there are constant references to code elements throughout the modules but no clear indication as to where they should be placed. And some code which I enter, following the examples to the letter, simply does not work.
Best avoided. -
Very muddled
Rated out of 5 stars, January 12th, 2009
I bought this book as a complete novice to HTML and thought it would be great because of the unpatronising way it was written and the progress checks throughout. It started off good but when I was getting through module 2 I started to notice coding errors in the examples which I thought was unacceptable for something that needs to be SO precise. Then I got to the mastery check at the end of module 2 and noticed that the answers to question 9 didn't match the original question! I'm very disappointed as I was enjoying working through the book but I don't want to continue and waste my time with more careless errors. I would recommend researching other titles where the proofreader isn't so lazy. -
