Reviews for ICT for OCR National Level 2 Student Book: Unit 6 Spreadsheets design and use and Unit 7 Databases design and use: Units 6 and 7 Student Book (OCR Nationals in ICT Level 2)

  1. Good, if a little too text based

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, November 12th, 2009

Bought this, alongside a couple of others in the series, as a guidance for developing work for the OCR Nationals L2 in ICT. This book covers the core Unit 1: ICT skils for business and Unit 21: Creating computer graphics.

The book is broken down in to each Assessment Objective (AO1, AO2, etc) and starts by introducing each AO and stating what citeria you need in order to get a Pass, Merit or Destinction, each of which is colour coded. The book then explains in distinct stages how to achieve each task (and subtask) by completing themed projects. The instructions are generally clear and the images are based on Microsoft Office 2003 and Adobe Fireworks CS3 for Unit 21.

There is a website with free resouces, but at this time it is not working!

This book is supposedly aimed at students, but it can be quite wordy and might put some of less able off, hence the four stars. As a source to use for reference and ideas it is very good.
