Reviews for Introduction to Java Programming, Comprehensive Version: International Version

  1. Great place to start learning java

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, February 12nd, 2010

I am very content with my copy of "introduction to java". I particularly like the examples that clearly illustrate topics covered. I also really appreciate the many exercises at the end of every chapter.

The progressions start with introducing the java language. Then it moves into OOP with java. I have programmed ActionScript for some years and I can fairly easily step right into the OOP chapters. Occassionally I have to refer back to previous chapters to look up some area where java deviates from the ActionScript I already know. There is a comprehensive index that helps me quickly locate what I am looking for.

    Best regards
    Thomas
  2. Really good book for starters

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, February 12th, 2010

A very good book to learn Java from the beginning. It contains a lot of exercises and examples which help the understatement and consolidate the learned. I wouldn't recommend this book to everybody who wants to learn java. Everything is so easy and clear explained that there is no programming experience needed.
  3. Excellent Java Book

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, June 12nd, 2009

Great book, filled with useful examples.

Covers all major concepts and techniques, from the basics to more complex ideas e.g. networking, concurrency, swing (graphical interfaces), jsf, databases.

Good book for any student learning Java, e.g. for computer science degree course.
  4. Excellent Introduction to Object Oriented Programming

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, January 12th, 2009

This book was the recommended text on my Computer Science degree course and helped with clarifying programming concepts. It offers a load of information, starting with all the basic principles of object oriented programming and is perfect for beginners.
