You need to jailbreak your phone...

... to do many of the things described in the book. Unfortunately, the description here on amazon suggests you don't need to -- but the first chapter very quickly tells you otherwise (page 5).
I bought the book specifically because of the "no jailbreaking" promise, so it doesn't fulfil it's promise to me.
Misleading marketing like this should really be punished harder than the medium rating I'm giving the book... but I've got to reflect the fact that I've stopped reading the instant I realized it wasn't the book for me.
It might be good if you're looking for a book about what you can do with a jailbroken iPhone/iPod touch.
