Not quite what it says on the tin

In my humble opinion this book could do with a bit of pollish. The chapters are too lengthy for the absolute beginner.
The language used is for the most part clear. There are however sections that are impossible for the absolute beginner to understand. I also found the text to be hard going with too many interjections of code to type in.
The chapters also cover vast quantities of diverse subject areas. Introducing new topics in mid stream of the previous one.
I also found some of the tables used to convey further functions to leave me more confused than I was when I started.
Finally and in my opinion the worst failing of the book is that it advertises a supporting website for downloading the code from the book and further samples. In my experience the website is a sales page which does not have the supporting materials advertised in the book. It does provide the code for the follow on project, but no further details or errata.
