As always, the style of the author is really frank and to the point; which I like very much. As the book aims; it is a all-the-way journey, form intoduction to the depth of this subject. waiting for the new edition please Mr. McKenzie.... -

I love it when a book makes learning something new fun.
An easy read, and a comprehensive look at portlet development.
A must have! -
really helped me understand the ins and outs of portlet development

A great book for learning about portlet development. The book focusses completely on the specification, taking you from the simplest, hello world type of portlet, to complex portlet configurations that creatively use portlet config and context objects. The book also goes into struts and JSF, just enough to get you started. I've never used struts or Java Server Faces before, but I was able to get the examples to work, and get a good idea of where these technologies would be powerful.
