Good but not perfect
Rated out of 5 stars, March 12th, 2010
The problem with Linux is there are so many "flavours". This book does a great job of explaining the basics and most of the commonalities between the flavours. Its a bit dull though (maybe all operating systems are) and as such I deducted one star. -
Easy

Easy, well written, exhaustive, with also a DVD in it.
I'm enjoying it.
Very good if you want to start slowly in the Linux world.

Well written and good structure

This book will guide you through the basics of Linux and it does it in a extremely simple but thorough way. I really liked the the sections for system administrators. Great book. -
Good overall summary

I bought an Acer Aspire One and wanted a Linux book that was fairly agnostic in terms of the version of Linux and that didn't descend into a list of man commands.
This one fits the bill just fine. Check the Table of Contents (no point in me listing it all!)...
