Reviews for Making Music with Your Computer

  1. A huge book covering a vast range of topics

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, July 12nd, 2006

Most computer music books shy away from musical theory but Brent devotes a considerable 160 pages to this, covering chord and scale relationships, composition and arranging at quite an advanced level.
The second section of the book is devoted to the usual computers and computer music theory - this is a good read but covered in more detail by the Martin Russ book.
The final section is devoted to pages and pages of score from Brent's songs. This is very nice, and the accompanying cd sounds good, but it would be welcome to include the songs as midi files so we could have a go at manipulating them on our own.
Overall although the final sections are quickly forgotten the first section of this book is excellent, and i still use this as a reference
