Horses for Courses most definately

Firstly, let's qualify my comment by explaining that I am not new to website-making (used Adobe Go Live in the past), but that I am new to Dreamweaver (of any version). I bought Missing Manual Dreamweaver CS4 orignally and worked through many of the tutorials in it, to find that I'd ended up doing stuff without understanding quite why (albeit quite successfully). This became apparent as soon as I started a new website of my own from scratch, as things didn't go according to plan. No surprise there really. It became immediately obvious that I needed a greater understanding of CSS.
This book is not for the totally new to Dreamweaver, but is very enlightening to those, like me, who had played around with Dreamweaver somewhat and become fairly familiar with many things (although not understanding how they interact).
Absolutely brilliant for explanation in this respect but this book is not an idiot's guide like some books and therfore one really does need to be pretty familiar with all the layouts/toolbars/panels etc before you try this or you'll never get into it.
Yes, you can probably survive without understanding CSS, but it's SO much easier when you do.........
It feels like someone has switched on the lights to me! -
A very limited 'Curates egg'.
Rated out of 5 stars, March 12st, 2009
When asked by the Bishop how was his boiled egg served up for tea the visiting curate replied with suitable diplomatic delicacy, "Good in parts, your grace, good in parts". And so it is with Mastering CSS. The only problem is that the good parts here are very few and far between.
On more than one occasion the bad parts [which excel in that quality] caused the book to travel the length of my study thrown in frustration. Not a good buy and not worthy of your hard earned cash.
Look elsewhere - CSS Mastery by Andy Budd or CSS - the missing manual. Far, far better. This one is just buying irritation.
