HTML is the fundamental building block for intranets and the web. XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language) is a version of HTML, which brings the functionality of XML to HTML so that developers can use their content on many platforms. This book provides best-practices methods for coding web and intranet sites using HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.1.

Reviews for Mastering HTML and XHTML

  1. A Reference Heavyweight

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, July 12st, 2004

I have found this book to be an invaluable resource in regards to HTML and XHTML. The knowledge bound within these pages is concise, clear and of practical use. Explanations are plentiful and are clear with out being patronizing. I have found the cornucopia of boxed notes, pictorial examples a wonderful way of boosting the text and coding examples which compromise the bulk of this large book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a web professional, or serious freelancer, the book is perhaps to weighty even for reference purposes for an amateur.

Admittedly I was reluctant at first to part with so much money for the book when others are half the price, but then the majority of books are half the size. In all, this is an exquisite book and I am thoroughly pleased with it!
