Reviews for Microsoft® ASP.NET Programming with Microsoft Visual Basic® .NET Version 2003 Step By Step (Pro-Step by Step Developer)

  1. Annoying, but with substance

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, April 12th, 2006

I came to this after using Visual Basic.Net Step by Step also by Microsoft Press - an excellent book.

This is much less satisfactory but still useful. The author never seems to settle on what he is trying to do. Almost at random he flicks between jargon filled digressions on issues in object orientated programming back to describing in detail what a variable is!

Specifically he assumes you are familiar with ASP but treats VB.Net as strange and new. This is the opposite of my experience so not surprisingly I am getting less out of it. Frustrating, particularly as there is no warning of this when buying.

  2. Using ASP.net with VB.NET

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, October 12nd, 2004

If you have a reasonable working knowledge of Visual basic then this book is for you. I think it covers asp well, using knowledge, that anyone with Visual basic knowledge, should understand.
  3. A very hard to follow Step by Step

    Rated 1 out of 5 stars, January 12rd, 2004

I'm New to ASP.NET, this book should not be titled "step by step". It is not helpful to novice. It has so many assumptions for the user of the book. You will have a hard time following what the author meant. It maybe useful for reference only and not a step by step project design, creation/programming and deployment.
