Reviews for Mobile Communications

  1. A little rant about the manufacturing

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, March 12th, 2010

The book is very good, there is no doubt about that. But, I take very good care of my books and while reading it, pages have randomly come loose. Each page is individually glued to the spine and the gentlest of page turns have resulted in loose pages. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!
  2. indeed very good, hoping for new edition soon

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, August 12st, 2007

All previous reviews are correct, this deserves 5 stars. The book is good, setting up the basics of wireless comms in a good style and with the help of very useful illustrations. I hope a new edition comes out soon covering the developments since 2003.
  3. just what i needed

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, November 12th, 2005

I highly recomend this book for any person interested in mobile and wireless communication. I bought this book as it was a core book for a course in my university degree but I found that it can help me in a lot of other topics that I wanted to learn about. Seriously if you are interested in mobile communication, this book is a must, very well organized and structured, easy to follow and very easy to understand
  4. Good reference - not overly mathematical, yet detailed

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, May 12nd, 2001

A excellent introduction to the latest mobile communications technologies. Sufficiently technical to give the reader a very good background into these areas, Schiller nevertheless manages to explain things with sufficient clarity for readers new to this area. The accompanying web site is also very useful.
  5. An excellent overview of communication technologies

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, November 12rd, 2000

This book offers a very comprehensive review of today's and emerging communication technologies. Starting with basics (modulations and multiplexing schemes), the author gives a very thorough review of all communication technologies from GSM to satellite communication and Internet. The great variety of communication protocols and standards are explained in details. Finally, there is also a rich review of emerging technologies such as GPRS, UMTS and Bluetooth with surprisingly lot of information.

The reader will acknowledge excellent support in rich bibliography and very comprehensive list of related web-sites. An excellent reference for research and design engineers, managers, general readers and students!
