Reviews for OpenSUSE 11.0 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Bible

  1. Not impressed

    Rated 1 out of 5 stars, May 12th, 2009

If you are new to Linux then this book may be OK for you. If you wanted a detailed look under the hood of Suse 11.0 and Enterprise Server then forget it. Most of the content of this book is generic linux and *nix stuff which they could have cut and pasted from a hundred other much older books. This leaves insufficient room for the content you would expect based on the book title. If you want a "bible" for running an enterprise server based on Suse, this book is definitely a waste of your time and money. I flicked through it in ten minutes and put it aside feeling cheated. It's unlikely to ever help me do my job.
The book should have been more honestly titled "Beginning Linux with a Suse flavour" and I would then not have bought it.

ps. As a handbook for a linux newbie it is probably a good book, but the title misleadingly implies the book is something it isn't.
