Reviews for PHP 5/"MySQL" Programming for the Absolute Beginner

  1. Some very good information for the beginner

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, February 12th, 2009

As a beginner in PHP I found that this book does deliver on its basic promise of being for the absolute beginner. You will certainly benefit from knowing basic HTML though, before trying to learn the language - really you should know know HTML and CSS before progressing to any dynamic language.

The author uses games as examples of how to use the code, unfortunately I often found it harder to understand the aim of the game than to understand the actual programming code. To be fair, the games are not really complex, its just I would have preferred more straightforward examples.

I found the writing style easy to follow and understand, I didnt struggle to follow what he was trying to explain ( unlike a lot of other computer books I have read over the years)

The author has a blog and takes time to read customer comments ( thats on Amazon.com ) which shows that he takes a keen interest and is aware of his customers, which is obviously a big plus point.

Overall, I was happy with this purchase, and would recomend you consider it as an option for learning PHP
