Does exactly what it says on the tin...

I started on this this book experienced at computing but a complete novice on PHP and MySQL. This book walked me thought setting up the environment of Apache, MySQL and PHP including where to get the software for Linux and Windows platforms and how to install and configure it. It then goes through heaps of explanations and examples in easily digested lessons. The code is available from the publishers web site.
It really is a great starter on how to create web pages created on the fly from a MySQL database.
It is not a complete book on PHP by any means, or probably on MySQL. The PHP readdir command is one probably amongst many that doesn't get a look in. But then readdir has nothing to do with MySQL integration.
But if you're new to this it will take you far enough forward to feel confident about carrying on.
