Reviews for Pro ASP.NET 3.5 in C# 2008, 2nd Edition (Expert's Voice in .Net)

  1. Great ASP.NET reference

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, January 12th, 2010

I thought this was a great reference on ASP.NET. As a tutorial if you are completely new to ASP.NET I much preferred the Sitepoint book but this is very good as a reference or second book. The free digital version of the book is a nice touch, particularly as it is searchable.
  2. Very good book

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, September 12rd, 2009

Great book bought for a drastically reduced price (2nd edition)
Language is quite simple to understand for non-english people too.
I am not reading chapters in established order, but there are not any problems for the understanding
The book because is centred on ASP.NET advanced, don't analyze aspects of standard C# or basilar .NET library; nevertheless many chapters as ADO.NET and LINQ are very useful also for general programming in .NET and C#.
I prefered to buy the 2nd edition than the 3rd because there aren't many difference and the price was lower (Silverlight now is at version 3, so also the chapter about it present in the 3rd edition is old)
  3. A perfect book

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, June 12th, 2009

If you're thinking of learning asp.net 3.5 in C# this is a good book. Although it says professional asp.net 3.5, I think someone with no knowledge of c# will find it very interesting as well.
  4. The best I've found

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, September 12th, 2008

I'm a professional C# & WinForms developer who's moving over to ASP.NET. I've looked at a few books (and mis-purchased one) but luckily eventually found this book. The authors really know their ASP.NET, and they write about it and present it perfectly. The coverage is accurate, insightful, comprehensive (as far as I can tell), interesting and paced just right. I read it bit by bit on the train into work, and can't wait to get into the office to apply the new things I've just learned. Can't recommend this one strongly enough.
  5. Very very good

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, June 12th, 2008

I have a lot of asp.net books but this is the best by far. It's clear, well written and the examples are relevant. I've been programming .net since version 1.1, and its nice that I'm bumping into stuff that I just didn't know before. Anyway, to put it simply, I can't recommend this book enough, I've packed all my others away :)
