Reviews for Professional Linux Programming (Programmer to Programmer)

  1. Not as professional as the title would suggest

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, February 12th, 2010

Professional Linux Programming is a disappointment, in so much as the contents read more like a WROX Beginning title. My expectation on ordering this book is that it would delve into similar concepts as the Beginning Linux programming title, but provide more detail and options. Instead what we have is a very slight treatment of kernels, svn, networks & LAMP. I think the authors should take a look at other titles in this range and see how the professional range means a. more detail, b. more detail and c.see a. This really should include information on APIs, porting code, device drivers, graphical toolkits etc. Its a good book, but it it really too short and undefined to deserve the professional title it wields.
