Reviews for Professional SQL Server 2005 Performance Tuning (Programmer to Programmer)

  1. A good introduction to SQL performance tuning

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, June 12th, 2009

The first couple of hundred pages are very very good, providing excellent instructions about how to get the best out of Perfmon, Profiler, DMVs - together with tuning tips.

I did delay buying this as ideally I wanted an edition for SQL2008, and especially wanted a book that included a section on the issues that SQL has on virtualisation.
