Programming in the key of C# ... as a primer
Rated out of 5 stars, July 12th, 2007
This book is an outstanding introduction / Primer to the C# Language (and with comparisons to the C++) language. The Author is gentle and amusing in his expanations, yet rigorous and informative. I would very strongly recommend a route for the aspiring programmer as, (through MSPress):- M.Harlvorson - Visual Basic . NET (2003) Step by Step; Tutored me the basics and terms I'd be encountering in a higher language... Followed by this book (a gentle introduction with which you will trade off the verbosity of the Basic language for a 'lower level'(C based langauge)) :) Penultimately: "OOP with MicroSoft Visual Basic.NET and MicroSoft Visual C#.NET by Reynolds-Heartle; this gives you the fundamentals with examples of Object Orientated Programming (in both VB and C# .. in one book).. maybe then you are set for the tome of "Visual C# 2005 The Language" by "Donis Marshall" This is an extremely direct and technical information in the form of a book that I have yet to tackle after the aforementioned! -
Good book - good introduction

Generally a good book, easy for the beginner. I'd recommend trying to do as much as possible in front of the computer. Not much on using C# with ASP.NET. Book shows you how to create some standalone applications with notepad and the compiler. Move onto the Wrox book after you finsih it.
