Would have preferred C# edition, but hey!
Rated out of 5 stars, August 12th, 2008
I really enjoyed working through this book. The examples given were fun, practical and easy to follow.
I just really really wish they'd done a C# version! If you can get past the awfulness of VB, this is a really cool book. However I do recommend this book even if you've gone the C# route as the examples of .net usage are rather good anyway.
Tip 1 - after working through an example or an hour's tutorial, spend another couple of hours messing about with it and generally tinkering
Tip 2 - there's a series of free video resources that will teach you rudimentary C# on the Microsoft website. Work through these, and then come back to this book and you'll be well away. -

with only basic html knowledge, i found this book to be a great help learing how to use microsoft visual web dev. It really was a good start to understanding ASP.Net, At the end of the book i bought some others as i felt there was so much more to understand, Never the less, this was a great book, i still use it for reference. -
Everything you need to get a good start on asp.net
Rated out of 5 stars, October 12st, 2006
This is a great book regardless of whether you have any programming experience, with everything explained clearly. The inclusion of Visual Web Developer Express 2005 on the CD and all the practical examples means you get real hands-on experience. By the end of the book you will have built an online photo album web application with user accounts, uploading of photos and allowing users to leave comments on other people's photos, i.e. a fairly advanced application. I would definitely recommend this.
