Is there authoring beyond Netscape Composer.... I think so
Rated out of 5 stars, August 12th, 1999
I'm 16 and I'm a beginner. I've experimented with free WYSIWYG programs like frontpage express and netscape composer and this book didn't really teach me anything I already knew from playing around with these web page editors. Th reason I was flexible and gave this book 3 stars is because this book could be useful for those that are ABSOLUTELY cluless. Say, for example, my mother. But if you're the beginner that has played around with composer or fromtpage and know the basics, then find something else. I was looking for a book to help me create a really cool website and this one didn't really do it (I returned it at the store I bought it). The best page you'd make with this book is a typical geocities/tripod "All About Me" Page. Besides, this whole book is only about Netscape Composer and there' much more out there than that. My suggestion, I now have The Dreamweaver 2 Bible which came with a trial copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver, flash, and fireworks, and it's great for the person who wants a more interactive fun site. -
I learned so much from this book!

Since I had Netscape Composer already, I was thrilled to find such a great book that focused exclusively on it. I learned an immense amount very quickly, and now have my own site up and running. This book taught me the basics of web design, and now I am ready to move on to a highter powered WYSIWYG and to hand coding HTML. -
Should have been titled "How to use Netscape Composer"
Rated out of 5 stars, April 12th, 1999
A good book but it was mostly about making web pages with one specific program, Netscape composer. Yet in explaining how to use the program (which it gives you on disc) you do learn a lot about web page making. It has a good section on HTML tags in the back. For beginners, this is a great book. -
Good book for beginners
Rated out of 5 stars, April 12th, 1999
This books is a great book for those who are new to web page creation. While it doesn't insult the intelligence of seasoned designers, it does a great deal in building the confidence of those who want to try their hand at making web pages. I doubt that a person can become a web page designing expert in 24 hours, and you will probably spend more than 24 hours if you follow the letter of this book, but there is a wealth of knowledge in the text. This books is a great resource - it will make you think twice about spending money for web design programs when so much creation can be done free on freeware.
