Reviews for Sams Teach Yourself PHP in 10 Minutes

  1. Good item, fair price, easy to understand

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, April 12st, 2010

If you want a fast way to get started in PHP, or simply to review and update your knowledge, then this is the book for you. It won't make you an expert in PHP programming but it does give you a wide enough perspective of the PHP language to help you make a fast start in writing interactive websites. The bite-sized chapters are necessarily limited in scope but make it easy to find information and provide practical examples of how to resolve specific problems. When you have finished reading it makes a great, easy-to-use, quick reference book to remind yourself about something you may have forgotten or skimmed over whilst reading. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to get started in PHP as it will take you a fair way into the topic and give you the groundwork that will lead to developing more expertise later on. 2. A Useful Introduction

    Rated 3 out of 5 stars, June 12nd, 2009

I was recently asked by my boss to enhance a web site which had been put together using the WAMP framework by someone who had since left the company. Although there are much more comprehensive and detailed PHP texts out there, this fitted the bill perfectly.

This concise book covered the ground I was interested in over the course of a series of easily-digestible chapters to get me up and running in short order. It is perhaps now slightly out of date in that it makes no mention of (for example) the PDO database access model but otherwise I have no complaints.
