Very Good and Easy To Read
Rated out of 5 stars, April 12th, 2008
I bought this book because it looked good the price was good and I have purchased from the sams range before. It goes through basic logging in to editing files, writing shell scripts and much more. I found it easier to read then the doorstop books you can buy and well worth buying. -
Excellent for beginners

As computer books go, this is very easy to read. If you're new to Unix it is definitely a good place to start and it covers enough to get you productive with Unix without over burdening you with esoteric stuff that as a beginner you just will not appreciate. Well worth the cash, and one of the few computer books I've actually read cover-cover! -
First time users - Buy it!!
Rated out of 5 stars, October 12th, 1999
This book is brilliant for first-time users. The chapters cover enough ground while not making it too much for the reader. The points covered in this book are excellent and extremely useful. It has an good balance between being too complicated and given the first-time user enough information. Unix can be very complicated but this book makes it quite the opposite. I have read other Unix books for beginners and this is the best by a long way. -
