Reviews for Solaris Solutions for System Administrators: Time-saving Tips, Techniques and Workarounds

  1. No Real Substance

    Rated 1 out of 5 stars, January 12th, 2006

I purchased book because of other readers ratings on this site but I was very disappointed with the contents of the book. It lacks any real substance and as far as I am concerned does not provide tips, techniques or workarounds that would assist with Solaris administration. I have returned this book for a refund, it truly is one of the worst Solaris offerings I have ever come across and I am perplexed how other people could rate it 5 stars.
  2. Top Dollar

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, August 12th, 2003

This is a superb book to help when administering Solaris, and a great great cram guide when going for interviews. Superb!
  3. A very good read but needs more detail.

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, March 12th, 2001

This is one of the best books for explaining the concepts of a Unix operating system but it does seem to lack any real solaris detail. What it needs to do is try to point out the differences that solaris has from say other flavours of unix (linux, bsd, sco). A full list of strange solaris commands would be good.
  4. Direct, to the point, tells you what you want to know.

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, October 12th, 2000

Direct, to the point, tells you what you want to know. They are the best words I can use to review this book. For a user new to Solaris it gave me the insight into the information and details I needed for all of my queries. Worth every one of the five star's and a bargin to boot!
  5. Good detail, readeable also.

    Rated 5 out of 5 stars, September 12nd, 2000

This book has a good level of technical detail and is also pretty readable.

I picked this book up from a local bookstore for around £26. The book is very good value and much better than many other more expensive books.
