Reviews for Sun Certified Security Administrator for Solaris 9 & 10 Study Guide: (Exam 310-XXX) (Certification Press)

  1. Misleading title as it ignores Solaris 10

    Rated 2 out of 5 stars, May 12th, 2007

This book is ok but it has one glaring problem - it does not include any Solaris 10 security changes or improvements. The following topics are missing for Solaris 9 & 10 - IPsec, SST & TCP wrappers.

There is a lot more missing for Solaris 10. eg. containers & zones, resource management, SMF, ipfilter, trusted extensions, PAM improvements, software installation clusters & patch management.

With the exception of SASL, what is covered by the book is pretty well handled and the format of the book is good. It's just a pity that so much of the content is missing.

Even though I'm happy because I've just passed the Solaris 10 exam for SCSECA, overall I would give the book just 5 out of 10.
