1. Would have had a better time reading Star Trek

   This book I read while I was in the States, the concept of the book is to try and give you an understanding of Replication in the terms of how Sybase would see it. This is the core area the book fails miserabally. Far from it, the book merely reaches it's intended goals. If you wish to learn Sybase Replication you are "better off" going on the professional course.

2. Waste of Money

   The level of detail is wrong from start to finish. It's too detailed to give you a good introduction to replication architecture. It's too general to be useful for hands-on work. There's a market out there for a real replication primer; too bad this isn't it.

3. Save your money

   I bought this "primer" book because I thought it can help me to understand the Sybase Replication Server better. But this book is difficult to read and understand. You can learn much more from the Sybase manuals that come with the Replication Server. Sadly, this is the only Sybase Replication Server book which is available commercially. But it will get you no where. Save your money.

4. I regret buying this book

   I wanted a book on sybase replication server and bought this book since this was the only one available.

   If you are studying at MIT or Princeton, and have an IQ of over 200, you may enjoy this book as it tries to explain a lot of things in the most concise and abstract way possible (without a sense of ordering and without too many useful diagrams). Since I am not that smart, I regret buying this book.

   It is better to read the Sybase supplied manuals. And if possible, you may attend their course which is also good.
