Best all-round Photoshop Book!
Rated out of 5 stars, April 12th, 2003
This book is ideal for the novice and the experienced user of Photoshop, even versions later than 4. It covers 9 major areas of Photoshop techniques such as Selections, masks, Layers and Channels (section 2) and Montage and Collage (section 3) as well as using filters, painting, postscript, special effects and the web.It uses colour graphics and photographs in abundance, and gives clear step-by-step instructions on how to achieve results. You would be hard-pressed to just stumble across these techniques and I haven't yet come across a better and clearer book on how to achieve many of the effects illustrated in this book.
Although the book covers Photoshop version 4, the later editions covering later versions don't differ too much and you could still apply most of what it says to later versions.
I have used this book for a few years and it has taught me most of what I know about Photoshop. Definately in my top 5 Photoshop books of all time. I'm going to get the latest edition as I've just upgraded to version 7!

When I bought the book my skill were at amateur-level. After reading it I got a job as a webdesigner. A very clever and colourful way to learn a complicated state-of-the-art graphics designprogram. Thanks Dayton and Davis I've just ordered The Photoshop 5.0/5.5 Wow! Book! -
Not for beginners

I was not able to use this book. I found it confusing and overly technical. -
Bought it as a gift, ended up keeing it for myself

I bought this book as a gift to teach my father how to use Photoshop 4, in the end, i found it so facinating and useful that I kept it for myself. The CD-Rom was great as well. It showed me how to produce neat effects that I was able to use in the workplace and home - Step by Step and with automated actions. One of the best photoshop books I've ever bought.
