Reviews for UML for the IT Business Analyst: A Practical Guide to Object-Oriented Requirements Gathering

  1. Decent UML guide that focuses on the technical side

    Rated 4 out of 5 stars, September 12th, 2008

I bought this book to revise my UML skills have using it on several projects in various forms, and bits and pieces. This book is definitely a thorough book and uses a project based approach to applying UML including a sample functional specification. Haven't not read many other UML books yet,its hard to compared but I don't feel like I've wasted my money or anything. If anything, this book is quite technical and goes into too much detail especially on the more technical elements.
The only thing lacking is more practical examples. The example provided is quite generic and cannot necessary be transfered across industries. If only there were more books out there with more practical examples, especially in banking and finance where the complexities lie.

Overall, its a decent book and I would recommend it.
